Where the Wild Things Are - Featurette with Maurice Sendak
Besides dr. seuss and the three little pigs this is one of the only other books I remember reading as a child. Of course I had remembered it much differently: mainly blissful dancing, dramatic adventure, and the narration being much longer. I had created the story out of the ideals and imaginations of a child. Now that I have re read it because I mistakenly thought I forgot what it was about, it has diminished to something as simple as a child being scolded and thinking in his room.
This is the beauty of nostalgia.

"starck's uses three pieces of transparent tracing paper, when used together form
a solid image. lagerfeld's features a new sort of peelable film that allows readers to pull
back the cover to reveal another image underneath."

-it seems like starck doesn't give a shit about design anymore; last time he was at ted, Starck talked about how design could benefit humanity. now he thinks inventing new products as consumerist and unhealthy. Personally I think design can save ecology, cities, sustainability, culture. This is obviously a more macro scheme of design and not product design. -nonetheless, the man is still brilliant

"A giant tiled wall of jewel-toned loops and curves — one of the last commissions by the Conceptual artist Sol LeWitt — was unveiled in the 59th Street-Columbus Circle subway station by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority last week. And while its title — “Whirls and Twirls (MTA)” — may sound more like an amusement park ride than an artwork, the eye-popping palette and monumental scale are bolder than most of the art in the subways, a surprising visual jolt for the estimated 69,000 commuters who use the station every day."

The Polaroid Project: Impossible Made Possible
"In celebration of this new generation, we bagged ten cameras before they hit the shelves and passed them on to ten of our favourite, pioneering creatives and asked them to shoot one film each of whatever they chose. The results are mixed, grainy, blurred, brilliant and haphazard in places, but each of the photographs has the essence of what makes Polaroid so beloved. As one of our ten creatives so perfectly put it: “it’s the instant capturing that feels so much more real than getting a film processed, it’s capturing proper moments in time."
